All GMOs produced or brought into Kenya must be labelled.
The strict regulations kick in immediately and will allow consumer groups to identify the health risks associated with GMO foods that have been approved for sale.
This comes after 100 countries including Kenya adopted new labeling laws for GMO products. The guidelines will make it compulsory for food manufacturers to say whether their products contain genetically-modified ingredients.
Lobbyists have been pushing for the labels saying you should know whether the food in your local supermarket is GMO or not.
